Wireless Mobile Broadband Is Changing Consumer Behaviour

A BT survey conducted on a select group of BT smartphone customers has found that consumers are increasingly using their mobile broadband devices when they’re out and about to help them look for bargains on the high street.

Of those that were studied, it was found that over the course of 3 months, 45% of high-street shoppers had used their smartphones to search for products and services while they were out. A third of them had browsed for product prices or product reviews and then made up their minds based on their findings, while a fifth of consumers actually purchased something while they were there.


Ian Neil, a BT Futurologist, commented on the convenience of using broadband devices on the move as it meant that consumers were now able to do on the move what they could previously only do at home (i.e., rooted to one spot).
