Hi,

I am sure its duable. I personally have to tried it. but I know how you can do it.

you will need to install a DHCP server on your laptop and connect a hub on the thernet side LAN.
So your 3G network will be the wireless card and the LAN port will for your DHCP server connected to a HUB and the HUB will have your Xbox connected to it.

you can create a route to rout all traffic to the wan gateway. The only problem is that your wan gateway will always change because the 3g wan card is on Dynamic DHCP mode.

so this migh just work. but it might be slow.

What you need to do is hook your phone in via usb to the computer then has the internet. Once you do this, go to run and type cmd, then in the black box type IP CONFIG. An IP address should come up regaurding you phone connection to the internet. This we will call IP OUT. Go to your ethernet settings start>control panel>networks> whatever network card you have. Right click, go to properties, TCP/IP, then hit properties. Assign your IP as follows. IP address: 192.168.1.1 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: IP OUT numbers. For DNS, you will only need the primary which 4.4.4.4 can be used.
Now connect your laptop to your xbox with the ethernet cord.
Finally you will need to configure your xbox network settings as follows, IP Address 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, and Default Gateway will be 192.168.1.1. DNS = 4.4.4.4, if all this is done correctly, you will be able to play. If it works one day and not the next, go back in and check to see if the IP OUT number has changed.

Hello, tell your friend to contact his or her service provider for more information on this issue. It will help your friend in getting first hand information before thinking on investing on modem and router to achieve this connection. We do not know the exact terms and conditions of your friends 3G bundle.
