Question by James D: Ebay, cracking 3 mobile broadband dongle to get unlimited access from topping up 10 pounds?
Just seen a thing on ebay, where you pay 2.40, and then you get told how to get unlimited access on your 3 mobile broadband dongle from topping up 10 pound. Was wondering if this is even legal, and how would it work?

In some ways I hope it is a scam so who ever enrols in it gets stung. But that would be letting the bad boys of the hook. The bottom line is these companies margins are quite tight. They have invested a lot in the technology to bring you wireless broadband at a reasonable price. If everyone hacks it then the company makes no money & goes bust which is bad for everyone. Everyone seems to want something for nothing these days. £10 is not a lot per month. I am guessing it is per month. Yea it is a bit of a laugh. “Oh look at me I have free broadband & I can tell you how to do it”. But in the end if everybody does it, as I said, the company folds.

Edit:- Personally I would shop them. As far as 3 is concerned it is not legal.

It’s a scam to get your money. There are loads of eBay scammers claiming to give you “Unlimited” internet from a 3 dongle for £5 or £10. It’s simply not true.

Basically 3 offer ‘Internet Max’ from your mobile which is £5 per month. These people just tell you how to apply the £5 add-on to your dongle instead of a 3 phone.

What they don’t tell you is that it’s limited to 1GB and if 3 find out they will suspend your account and all credit. They have also recently started to implement a new system to identify between mobile and broadband SIM cards so all these scams will be over.
