Question by piper4uk: Mobile Broadband?
Hi!
I am just wondering if anyone here has Mobile Broadband? I am thinking of getting it as I do alot of travelling and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a provider. I dont know whether to go pay-as-you-go or monthly.

i thought about it, but i heard the range wasn’t that good and it’s expensive.
Good if your a business user and will use tinternet away from home a lot. not so good if you are a home user!

i have bt total broadband with bt anywhere also part of bt fon and use wireless connection to my broadband hub i was supplied with a htc phone free with 50 free texts amonth and free50 mins talk time a month it is very good and it costs only £5 more amonth on my total broadband bill it may be dearer than other suppliers but service is excellent and i would recommend it to anyone
I’m a BT customer. I’ve used the “anywhere” service on a hand-held device in city centres. It works brilliantly – access to websites and maps. This is bundled in with a home broadband package – and includes a lot of free time.
I cant recommended any of the uk mobile data providers as they all act like con artists.
You cant use mobile broadband as your primary isp unless you have more money than sence.
Unless you do nothing more than look at emails, your bandwith costs are going to be sky high,
All of the uk mobile providers dont charge on how long your using the internet but on how much you download.
Lets take 3 telecoms 1GB for £10 a month for example, all it takes is two 20 minute programs to be downloaded from bbc’s Iplayer to take you over your 1gb. With HDSPA speeds you can use your months bandwidth in about about 10-20 minutes.
My advice is to be very careful as I know countless people who have run £500+ monthly bills as a reslut of data charges…
if you’re in the UK, BT are doing a new service where you will be provided with a handset, similar to a Blackberry, which gives you free calls, texts, and landline internet speeds on the move. Its called Broadband Anywhere. And yes, I work in Sales for BT.
I haven’t personally used it but everyone who I work with the does can’t do anything other than complain about it. They don’t see the point in having something that only works in the major cities.
Its really up to what you need I would think. We do monthly plans here.
