Question by : How is Vodafone doing built in mobile broadband without a dongle in their netbooks..ie samsung nc10?
I have mobile broadband dongle and a netbook…hate the dongle, in the way, and windows 7 rc keep re-thinking it just a storage device, have to keep re-installing it
anyway, I understand Vodafone have netbooks with broadband built in, just want to know how they doing it, …if they are using existing wireless hardware…more importantly could I do something similar with my netbook?

They are using special hardware that is made for internal mobile broadband. Without serious hacking and skills it is not possible. Sorry.

this is done by adding internal miniPCI cards into the laptops. they are not cheap to buy but can be got hold of. you need to make sure you can install one first though as must notebooks/netbooks use the only minipci slot for there wireless card. you can get cards with both 3g and wifi on that might be your only options
The model of notebook they are selling has a built in modem (dongle).
