Question by steve: Can you get a mobile broadband dongle which has a one off payment?
Mobile internet is awesome, but the monthly pricing is the only thing which is offputting. To pay only once for the dongle would be much nicer than paying monthly. If there is a one off payment dongle, then i will buy it!

NO! u pay monthly for the usage. u pay say £15 a month for 5Gb usage. and at the end of the month u pay and u get another 5Gb. the only way u will be able to pay what u want is to go on pay as u surf sort of thing.

do turkeys vote for Christmas? then why on earth would a mobile internet provider commit themselves to a single payment for unlimited use, you could potentially use it home and abroad, rack up thousands of pounds and they would foot the bill? I don’t think so.
Yes ’3′ do 3 or 12 months pre paid – including the dongle. The 12 month used to be £99, but it’s probably cheaper now.
That’s calculated on using 1 GB a month, which is not much and if you use the whole 12 GB in one month, you’ll have to top it up – it’s not a good deal basically
Contract deals are a lot better, I bought one for my daughter – £15 for 15 GB a month, which even as a facebook mad teenager she hasn’t gone over – yet!
I believe you can get ones that have up to 12 months (or 12Gb, whichever used first) pre-paid internet, but unsure where you can get them.
I have seen them in the Argos catalogue at my house, but it’s not an up-to-date copy. You could check there. I checked online, but they don’t appear to have that kind on the website.
