If your laptop has WiFi you can get internet only when you are within range of a wireless router that you have the passcode for, or free public hotspots like in some cafes, airports, etc.

If you want mobile broadband, you will have to buy a broadband ‘stick’ and sign up for an account with a cellular data provider. This can get expensive.

I’m not 100% possitive about this since i have never used it. But i would think if you have a broadband connection, you can connect to any hotspot or area with unsecured wifi. But if its like a verizon broadband hookup or AT&T, then you should be able to connect to the net anywhere thats within range of a cellular tower, which is most places now. If your in a city you should be able to hook up, but if your out in the country or in the stix you might have more trouble. AGAIN, this is just how i think it works, not 100% since ive never used. Good luck!

No, that router only allows you to get internet within its range…probably only inside your home. If you go outside, you’ll need a connection to a cellular service provider or find a wifi hotspot to connect the laptop.

No, not anywhere. Only places that have a public wifi network. Most libraries and larger urban areas have wide-area wifi. Restaurants such as Starbucks, McDonalds, Panera Bread, Hooters, Rafferty’s… all offer wifi to their customers, just to name a few. Interstate service plazas and hotels almost always have wifi for their guests.

Mobile broadband is becoming more widespread and less expensive these days – you might want to avoid the guessing game and get one.
